Gourmet food trucks have been a big hit in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, and the arrival of the Gourmet Truck Expo in West Palm Beach proves it may be successful anywhere.

Several thousand hungry locals converged on Village Commons, feasting on an array of cuisine - served on wheels.

"This is a great area. It's a great location [with] young adults. It's a mixture of people here," said Gloria Harmon of West Palm Beach.

Nearly two dozen gourmet food trucks, traveled up Interstate 95 to West Palm Beach for this one-time outdoor dinner on Wednesday evening.

This was the first time the Gourmet Truck Expo has gone further north than Boca Raton.

"Tips are optional. They're appreciated but they're not a requirement because the service that happens comes from inside the truck," said Jochen Esser, organizer of the event. "We'd love to come back. If West Palm Beach will have us, we'll be back."
