WASHINGTON, DC - New rules are going to make it easier to apply and get student loans, for a number of eligible students.
Experts suggest applying for federal student loans first, because they are at a fixed rate.
The Stafford loan interest rate will drop to 4.5% for the upcoming school year.
According to the Wall Street Journal, federal loans also offer more repayment options, and in some cases, loans can be forgiven.
