A Consumer Reports investigation found there are 150,000 appliance fires every year

On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of some fax machines and printers because they pose fire and burn hazards.

According to the recall, there have been seven reports to Hewlett-Packard about HP 1040 and 1050 fax machines overheating and catching fire. One case resulted in significant property damage and another caused a minor burn to a consumer.

About 928,000 of these machines were sold in the U.S. The CPSC recommends people stop using these fax machines immediately and disconnect them from the outlet.

CPSC also recalled Konica Minolta printers, which can shot circuit and overheat. The recall includes Magicolor 4750DN, Magicolor 3730DN, Bizhub C35 and Bizhub C35P.

For more information about the HP recall, call 888-654-9296 or go to http:// www.hp.com/go/ faxrecall/US-en . For more on the printer recall go to www.kmbs.konicaminolta.us or call 800-825-5664.
