Last week I taught you some tips and tricks for giving your bathroom the shine and clean it deserves. Now that the cleaning has taken root it is time to give your bathroom an organizational overhaul.

THE SHOWER

The best time to get rid of empty shower bottles and organize the products you use in the shower is right after a good clean and scrub. If you notice a surplus of products take them all out of the shower/bath and ask yourself which ones you use daily. Those should be the only ones that keep their place. The others can find a home under the sink or in a closet.

STOP WASTING MONEY

Hair products, makeup, and supplies you don’t use are not just a waste of money but also overwhelm you every time you see them. Before you clean your bathroom each week go through your bathroom and purge all of the products you know are just taking up space. I know some of you will say, “I’m planning on using that soon,” but the truth is that most of the stuff you are not using in your bathroom or haven’t used in months you will never use again. Remember that items like sun screen, tanning lotion and aloe could sit around all winter before their shining moment in the summer... so items like this are excluded, but all of those other, non-seasonal, items aren’t excluded. Assess what you need and purge what you don’t need to make room for YOU!

BINS, BINS, BINS

Keeping your hair dryer and brushes accessible in bins you can pull them out quickly and put them away even faster is a great way to organize your bathroom tools. There will never be an excuse to why you have all of your supplies sitting out on the counter or sink as when you are done getting ready it is simple to drop everything back into the bin and slide it away.

KEEP THE COUNTER CLEAR

A clear counter/sink area is a clean and welcoming area. Having space to be able to bring out make up, a hair dryer and a hair brush without feeling overwhelmed will change your day. Like an artist, it is important to paint on a blank canvas to get the painting you envision. Starting your day with things all over the place will make you life more chaotic and we all want LESS chaotic. Put things away!

There is something very refreshing to opening drawers and cabinets in your bathroom and not have things staring you in the face, reminding you of the money you’ve wasted or the time you spent collecting these items. There also is a calming feeling of not having to see THINGS when you can see space. Knowing that you are in control of your surroundings is the first step to changing them.
