When it comes to a healthy breakfast, it's easy to be fooled into choosing the wrong foods.
The folks at Eat This, Not That have compiled a list of some of the worst breakfast foods in the grocery store.
Pancakes:
The worst mix: Aunt Jemima Original. It has 250 calories and 9 grams of fat for one serving.
Recommended: Hungry Jack Complete pancake mix. It has 150 calories and just 1.5 grams of fat.
Wholesome Cereal:
Halfsome: Quaker Natural Low fat Granola with Raisins. Eat This, Not That says it has more sugar than a pack of peanut M&M's.
Instead: Eat post shredded wheat. Much healthier at 170 calories and 1 gram of fat.
Sweet Cereal:
Keep on top shelf: General Mills Reese's Puffs. One cup of it has 160 calories and 16 grams of sugar.
Within kids' reach: Post Honey-Comb. One cup has 87 calories, only seven grams of sugar and just .5 grams of fat.
Yogurt:
Don't have it: Yoplait's 99 percent fat free cherry orchard is packed with 27 grams of sugar.
Definitely: Fage total 0 percent nonfat Greek style yogurt. It has just 7 grams of sugar.
Sausage:
Stay away: Johnsonville Original Summer Sausage. It's packed with 170 calories, 15 grams of fat and 680 mg of sodium.
How about: Hillshire Farm Turkey Smoked Sausage. Just 90 calories and 5 grams of fat.
