CINCINNATI - Celebrity and Cincinnati native Nick Lachey supported his home team when the Bengals took on the San Diego Chargers Sunday — but it didn’t end well for the star.
Exactly three hours after Lachey posted a picture from inside the San Diego Chargers stadium, he tweeted about being kicked out to his more than 205,000 followers.
At 4:41 p.m. Sunday afternoon, the popular performer tweeted, "Just got kicked out of the chargers stadium and couldn't be prouder! Go Cincy Bengals! #whodey."
At last count, the tweet received 507 retweets and 320 favorites.
Three hours later, Lachey tweeted his excitement for his home team who continued their winning streak, defeating the Chargers 20-13.
"Bengals win again. i'd talk trash to everyone in SD, but what's the point? you already had me kicked out of the stadium and you still lost," Lachey tweeted.
The 98 Degrees singer says did not list a specific reason he was kicked out, but did tweet this about the incident Monday afternoon: "For the record, i was not kicked out of the chargers game for excessive "trash talking". no, that honor belonged to the guy in front of me!"
Chargers fan George Kalamaras was sitting in front of Lachey, along with his 9-year-old son, during the game and witnessed the incident. He shot video on his smartphone and submitted it to the celebrity website TMZ .
Kalamaras said Lachey was "very nice to my son...very nice to myself" and even snapped a photo of the pop singer with his son at halftime.
"His friends were really cool as well. In the beginning, they were cheering and we were high-fiving each other," said Kalamaras.
A few minutes into the third quarter Kalamaras says a Chargers fan started mouthing off at Lachey and his friends. The argument then escalated into pushing and shoving.
Kalamaras said that everyone involved was drinking beer and that "it probably contributed to it a little bit on both sides." In the photo Kalamaras took, Lachey is also seen holding a beer.
Kalamaras says Lachey and his friends were having a good time and the San Diego fan maybe took it too far.
"There's a point where you just need to turn around and just cheer for your team," Kalamaras said.
Lachey is not in any trouble with law enforcement.
