INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two days after a bizarre brush with Indian River County Sheriff's Office deputies at Steak 'n Shake, country music artist and Vero Beach native Jake Owen took to the beach to tie the knot.
Owen posted on his Facebook page Monday a photo and a timeline event announcing his marriage to model Lacey Buchanan. The photo shows the bride and groom wearing all white and no shoes at a beachside location.
"A best friend for life," Owen wrote on the page. "I now have a wifey. My face hurts from smiling. What a wonderful way to start the rest of my life."
Owen proposed to Buchanan at his April 7 performance at the Citrus Bowl in Vero Beach. The event raised money for the Mardy Fish Foundation and the Jake Owen Foundation, which support after-school programs and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The ceremony came a few days after deputies were called to Steak 'n Shake about a disturbance the singer of "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" was causing in the 1900 block of 94th Court, Vero Beach. Staff told deputies someone was dancing outside and wearing a mask to make him appear like a senior citizen Saturday. Owen was briefly detained but not charged, the Sheriff's Office said.
