Halle Berry to marry again, engaged to French actor Olivier Martinez

(CNN) -- Halle Berry's recent engagement has come with a learning curve: the actress says she now realizes that one should "never say never."

Berry spoke with "Extra" over the weekend about her impending marriage to French actor Olivier Martinez, and admitted that she's changed her mind since swearing off the institution when two prior unions didn't work out.

Berry said as much in a 2007 interview with InStyle magazine, when she claimed that she would "never get married again," adding that she was in a place where "I think two people can share their lives without the ring, without the piece of paper."

But her relationship with Martinez seems to have given her a different outlook.

"Who knew [I'd get engaged again]?" Berry told "Extra" during her first red carpet interview since Martinez proposed. "I swore it off, right?"

Well, "never say never, people!" she laughed.

The 45-year-old beauty, who was previously married to baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet, met her husband-to-be on the set of the movie "Dark Tide" in 2010.

Martinez confirmed their pending nuptials back in March.
