Meryl Streep applauds Viola Davis at Women in Film Awards

Veteran actress MERYL STREEP applauded her DOUBT co-star VIOLA DAVIS as she handed her a top prize at the 2012 Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards on Tuesday night (12Jun12).

The Help star was honored with the Crystal Award for Excellence In Film at the Los Angeles ceremony, and Streep stepped on stage to present her with the prize.

Chloe Moretz was crowned best newcomer with the Max Mara Face of the Future trophy, while Christina Applegate was another winner, taking home the Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award for her charity work.

Applegate was overwhelmed by the honor and took to her Twitter.com page after the event to declare, "Thank you to Women In Film for the Norma Zarky award this evening. What a great night, what powerful women all in one room!"
