Singer JOHN MAYER reduced a young fan to tears by purchasing a guitar for her after a chance meeting at a music store in New York City.
Julie Fermin, 16, was browsing Rudy's Music with her friends on Friday (05Jul13) when Mayer walked in with his girlfriend Katy Perry.
Fermin tells People.com, "(My friends and I) started freaking out and getting super excited. (They are two of my) favorite singers."
The stars happily chatted to the teens about music and agreed to take a photograph with them, and Mayer then asked Fermin to point out which guitar she liked best.
After the couple left the store, a staff member informed Fermin that Mayer had actually purchased the instrument for her as a gift, and the aspiring musician admits she broke down in tears: "I started crying and screaming. I was the luckiest and happiest person alive. I was so shocked. I cannot describe all the emotions I was feeling at that moment."
Rudy's Music employee Brad Tertola adds, "They treated them so beautifully. They were just so comfortable and sweet and as nice as any couple. I was so happy about it. I experienced first-hand the kind of sweet guy John is. He and Katy are just wonderful people."
