British rocker CARL BARAT returned to school on Friday (09Nov12) to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Winchester in England.
The Libertines star, 34, was the guest of honor at the Winchester Cathedral graduation ceremony, where he was recognized for his contributions to the arts, and the guitarist admitted he was humbled to receive the academic accolade.
Describing the award as an "incredible privilege", Barat joked that he had jumped at the chance to be honored by institution bosses "before they realized it was a mistake".
Barat won't be the only member of his family to possess a certification from the University of Winchester - his sister, Alice, has also graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama, while his mother Chrissie works at the school.
