Swedish dance music superstar AVICII has cancelled a number of shows in Australia after he was hospitalized with a stomach complaint.
The DJ jetted into Brisbane over the weekend (02-03Mar13) but was taken straight to a hospital to receive treatment for "stomach related issues".
He cancelled his appearances at the multi-site Future Music Festival in Brisbane and Perth on Saturday (02Mar13) and Sunday (03Mar13) and will spend several days resting before continuing with his work commitments.
A statement posted on Avicii's Facebook.com page reads, "It is with deep regret to inform you of the decision to cancel Avicii's performances at Future Music Festivals in Brisbane and Perth. Avicii went directly to the hospital upon landing in Brisbane for stomach related issues. He has been hospitalized since then. Over the past couple of days we have been monitoring his condition and we have all been optimistic about him being healthy enough to perform.
"Unfortunately the doctors are not willing to discharge him at this time... Avicii will continue to rest throughout this week and looks forward to playing the remaining shows on this tour."
The Future Music Festival has also been rocked by the cancellation of another high-profile act - singer Rita Ora pulled out of the Perth leg due to throat problems.
