LOS ANGELES - The Beach Boys are in the midst of a U.K. tour, but things are ending quickly for three band members, including founding member Brian Wilson.
The band's frontman, Mike Love, announced that the group will split after this week. Two other members, Al Jardine and David Marks, have also been dropped as well. The fired band members apparently did not know about the change until Love released a public statement.
The Beach Boys are in the midst of their "Keeping the summer alive" tour. Love announced that after they wrap up two London stops, he will carry on with his own lineup.
Love can do this because he has owned the Beach Boys name since 1998, after a series of hard-fought legal battles following the death of Carl Wilson that same year. Since then, Love has toured with his own version of the Beach Boys, featuring longtime member Bruce Johnston and a backing band including Love's son, Christian.
