Bio:

All Joe Girvan ever wanted to do was play for the Red Sox.  He grew up 45 minutes from Fenway Park, and started every morning by reading the Boston Globe sports page.  At some point during his senior year of high school however, (probably about the time he was hitting .263), Joe realized he would have to find another outlet for his passion.  After 18 years of snow and cold, he decided to leave New England to study sports broadcasting at the University of Florida.

Joe is now WPTV's Weekday Sports Anchor.  You can also hear him on ESPN 760.  Since graduating from UF, Joe has remained in the Southeast, primarily in the Sunshine State.  Most recently, he was Sports Director for the Gainesville Television Network, and hosted a daily talk show on WRUF Sports Radio 850.  He went back to Gainesville after three years working for Bay News 9 and Bright House Sports Network in Tampa.  Joe has also worked for WTOC-TV in Savannah, GA, WPMI-TV in Mobile, AL and WCJB-TV in Gainesville, FL.  He is proud to have won AP and Emmy awards, along with having a vote for the Heisman Trophy.

Joe is single and lives in Boynton Beach.  He is extremely grateful for his loving family and a wonderful group of friends.  Joe loves traveling, especially to tropical destinations.  He will play any kind of sport, but really lives for wiffleball...because he knows it's as close as he's ever going to get to playing for the Red Sox.
