I didn't use the ice scraper on my drive to South Florida. I wanted to watch the snow and ice that had accumulated in Upstate New York, melt. After three years at WROC in Rochester, two years at a station in Syracuse and four years at Ithaca College, I was ready to get warm.
While at WROC, I covered the political downfall of Eliot Spitzer, the devastating crash of a commercial plane in Buffalo and exposed government waste in Albany. I also enjoyed covering numerous local projects that involved millions of taxpayer dollars.
I was honored to win an award for "Best News Feature of 2009" from the Society of Professional Journalists. Our story was about the reunion of a Vietnam Vet with the long-lost family of his best friend. Covering good news is a real passion of mine.
I am thrilled to be working in South Florida and can't wait to interact with the people who depend on us for the information they need. Please send any story ideas you have to eaxelbank@wptv.com.
I am proud to be born and raised in The Bronx, New York. Everyone says my accent will fit in well here! Despite my geographical roots, I am a huge Mets fan. Maybe one day ill get to see them win the World Series.
I am also an avid golfer, and I look forward to playing as many of the courses in South Florida as I can!
