ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - What began as a typical workday for 34-year-old Jason Marshall of Vero Beach, ended in a tragic accident that left his family with no income.

Marshall worked as a pest control operator for a landscaping company. On May 31 st, he was spraying a street median in Port St. Lucie, when he was hit by an SUV. Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident, but since then, Marshall has been in a coma, and his wife Brittany has not left his side.

Community supporters, including Suzanna Weisberg, teamed up to create two fundraisers to help out with the family’s expenses during this time.

Weisberger admits she hasn’t even met Jason Marshall in person, but she found out about his family’s situation through his mother-in-law. She said she stepped in to help coordinate fundraisers for a simple reason—“Because they needed it,” she said. “You should help somebody.”

The first fundraiser is Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Indian River Shores Community Center. The address is 6001 N. Highway A1A. That fundraiser will be a bake sale, a rummage sale and a cookout, plus there will be raffle prizes for sale.

The second fundraiser is on Saturday, June 30, at Vero Bowling and Lounge at 929 14 th Lane. You can have unlimited bowling plus a free shoe rental for $25. Raffle prizes will be there, as well.
