WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Students are finished doing their homework assignments and are brushing up on their painting skills. It's part of the Police Athletic/Activities League program, also known as PAL for kids ages 5 to 17.
West Palm Beach Police Officer Jonathan Barber said the program unites the children with law enforcement officers, helping to keep the kids off the streets and in school.
"Helping the kids get involved with law enforcement and building relationships between the community, the kids and the police department," said Barber.
Gail told us PAL has several programs, which enhance the future of these youngsters, building character development and fitness.
"We have our football team, however, we have a summer school program, we also have after school homework, tutoring, we have nurturing programs, we have the Girl Scouts," said Gail.
The organization does several fundraisers every year, one of them is February 18th.
"We are having a gala, it's a Mardi Gras celebration. We are having it at the Rybovich Marina and Yacht Club, " added Gail.
The Rybovich Marina Dockside Square is located at 4200 North Flagler Drive, in West Palm Beach. Celebration starts at 7 p.m.
