WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Don Sullivan is in training, getting ready for the 'Motivation Man' triathlon, which will take place in downtown West Palm Beach.
It's a special race for Don, who will be racing alongside his friend, David Bigoney, who is visually impaired.
The two met a few years ago. Don Sullivan, co-founder of Team Vision said, "I was asked to guide David in the New York City Triathlon, which was the physically challenged championships. And we just hit it off. It was like two buddies racing together."
Even though David lives in Tallahassee, the duo started the Team Vision foundation, which helps visually impaired athletes compete in races.
Don showed us how a guide can help someone who is visually impaired. He says he is inspired by David's determination.
"When I wake up in the morning, and I don't want to do something, I don’t' want to work out, I don't want to go for that run, I think of every excuse and it's too hot living here in Florida or it's raining and then I think 'wow.' I think if Dave can do it, and if there are athletes out there that can do it, I certainly can do it."
The foundation helps 35 visually impaired athletes with help from 15 volunteer guides.
Don hopes more athletes will volunteer. "When I did my first race it was a marathon and it was just two buddies running together, it was just an amazing experience and when we finished that race he couldn't stop thanking me, but I couldn't stop thanking him because he brought me into this, and it brought some sort of all to my life."
