Developers have discovered that Twitter isn't just scanning your address book when you use its friend-finding feature on the app, it's also downloading your contact information and storing it for months.

People who use the friend feature will have their address book, including the names, emails, and phone numbers of their contacts stored in Twitter's database. Twitter says it does not disclose this sensitive information, however, the site says it does plan to change the wording under its friend-finding feature to make its intentions clear.

If you would like to remove your information from Twitter's database, click here .
