WEST PALM BEACH, FL--Unveiling the new West Palm Beach golf club design and coming back to the place he won at 50 years ago, Arnold Palmer still has the love of his fans everywhere he goes.
Monday he returned to hit the ceremonial first shot off the tee. The West Palm Beach Municipal Course reopened with a new design by former PGA player Mark McCumber.
Arnie reflected on what he remembered about his victory 50 years ago. He says the Bermuda greens gave him a tough time when he played in the tournament, but he eventually won in a playoff.
In addition to his love for the game and his fans... he also has a love for a drink named after him too. It's half lemonade and half iced tea. You've always heard the stories, but where did the Arnold Palmer drink originate from?
"One day in a restaurant, well I won't mention where. I ordered an iced tea, with lemonade and someone heard me in the restaurant and stood up and said to the waitress 'I want a Palmer', and that's how the named started." says Palmer.
And while many have tasted it, not all sportscasters have tried it. That is until today, when I got the chance to see what everyone raves about. It was worth the wait. A great drink and a great golfer.
