9 years I suppose can feel like a long time if you're a Yankees fan used to seeing them win a World Series championship most of the last 13 years. From 1996-2000, the Yanks had won 4 of the 5 Fall Classic's during that span. Then something happened. They haven't won a single series since then. They lost in 2001 and 2003 and haven't been back to the series since.
But fear not Yankee fans, because this year is finally your year to have the trophy back in the Big Apple. Some may of liked seeing the Yankees struggle in the past, but now the team appears to be back in the forefront of baseball and I am one to say that's fine with me.
I can handle Yankees fans just fine. They know the game, they love their team, and Yanks are good for baseball. They drive ratings, they're in the a big market, they have the largest fan base, and the of course the best players to watch in baseball. Alex Rodriguez excorcised his post-season demons, finally this year. Jeter can add a 5th title to his resume. C.C. Sabathia is worth the money the team spent on him. As Joe Girardi proved you don't need to have a Torre in your last name to prove you can win in New York.
Because as someone once said, if you can make it in New York you can definitely make it anywhere. The Yankees have done that 27 times now.
