Florida's Spikes leaves game with groin injury

Last Update: 10/17/2009 4:54 pm
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes, who leads the team in tackles and sacks, injured his left groin against Arkansas.

Team trainers taped his groin on the sideline, but Spikes did not return for the next series. It was unclear whether he would get back on the field Saturday against the Razorbacks.

Spikes, slowed earlier in the season by tendinitis in his left Achilles' tendon, entered the game with a team-high 32 tackles and three sacks. The top-ranked Gators already were without both starting defensive tackles. Lawrence Marsh (ankle) and Jaye Howard (knee) did not dress against Arkansas.
