WEST PALM BEACH, FL --Walking around an 18-hole course is a great way to get exercise. If youfeel that you have to use a golf cart, however, there are plenty ofchoices.
There are gas or electric models that range from simple toelaborate. The controls vary in carts from different manufacturers. There may be one pedal for acceleration and another for the brake, or asingle pedal that applies the brake automatically when you take yourfoot off. A cart may also have a shift lever for choosing forward, reverse, or neutral. Operating instructions and safety precautions arenormally posted on the cart. Familiarize yourself with both before youstart out.
While most carts are simple, you can find some that havesophisticated suspensions, sunroofs, or stereo systems. If you wantstyle, there are carts designed to resemble anything from a Rolls Royceto a classic 1932 roadster. Most courses have their own regulationsregarding cart use, which will be posted. Some courses may insist thatyou stay on the paths at all times. If your course doesn't demand this, follow what's called the 90-degree rule. This means driving the cart onthe path until it's even with your ball. Then you can drive onto thecourse, make your shot, and return to the cart path.
