WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- If you thought making a doctor's appointment was hard, you should trygetting a tee time at one of the major golf resorts. Reservations areoften made many months in advance. Avid golfers plan entire vacationsaround their one opportunity to play on such courses.

The situationisn't that bad everywhere, but you'll still need to arrange your teetime a day or two in advance at most places. If you're a member of aclub that has a golf course, you'll have a better chance of getting apreferred tee time. At public courses, phone several days ahead to seewhat's available.

Golf courses benefit by maximizing use of thecourses, and scheduling appropriate tee times is an efficient way to dojust that. The local pro is generally in charge of handling this.

Onceyou have your tee time, be sure to show up an hour or so early. Thiswill give you a chance to practice on the driving range and putting(PUTT-ing) green to warm up. Whatever you do, don't be late. If youare, you're likely to get bumped in favor of the next foursome.
