Golf shoes

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- Eighteen holes of golf involves quite a bit of walking, and comfort should be the first thing you look for in a pair of shoes.

They should be snug, but have plenty of room for your toes to move. Leather is the preferred material, since it allows air to pass through.

Since golf courses can be wet, make sure your shoes have been waterproofed. Traction is also important. You don't want to slip while making that crucial approach shot.

The metal cleats that were popular for so long have mostly been replaced by soft cleats or even cleatless versions.

Some courses even prohibit metal cleats.

Space-age materials give the same traction without the danger of damaging the turf. Finally, find a pair that look good.

Just because they're practical doesn't mean golf shoes can't be fashionable, too.
