KEY WEST, FL --A man from Ukraine, who became sick at sea, is receiving medical help tonight in South Florida thanks to the U.S. Coast Guard.

A crew from Air Station Clearwater flew a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter about 100 miles west of Key West Tuesday to a research ship that had radioed for help.

On board the Munin Explorer was a man suffering from abdominal pain and in need of immediate medical attention.

The Coast Guard hovered above the 180-foot Cypress-flagged research ship and hoisted the man aboard.

He was later identified as 50 year old Vadym Karavayev.

He was flown to Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, and is listed in stable condition.
