A new report recently published on www.floridaoceanographic.org may be of interest. The title of the report is SE Florida Off-shore Reef Fish Assemblage Trends. The report summarizes fish sighting and density estimates comparing the average of the last 3 years with the average of the last 10 years. The trend analysis uses the REEF data base which is the largest fish sighting data base in the world.
Here's an update from Rob Murphy: "I am great, walking on new prosthetics with just a cane, and progressing quickly. I went diving with the prototypes for the dive legs for the first time. We did some pool work. I dove 3 tanks, was getting around the boat pretty much independently, and shot some big fish. I am really impressed with the prototypes. I am going to use them for a couple weeks then they will make the final models. I am doing a spearfishing tournament, the Spearboard Open, on May 16 and 17."
ORLANDO, FL (AP) -- Florida's sea-turtle nesting season has begun, and thousands of the reptiles will return to their home beaches to lay eggs. The young hatchlings will break out of their shells several weeks later and head for the water. Florida beaches are one of the primary nesting grounds for loggerhead turtles.
