FT. PIERCE, FL - Police arrested a suspect involved in what they call a botched home invasion robbery.

Ft. Pierce officers caught up with 31-year old Gregory Evans less than 24 hours after they say he and two other men broke into a home on Raymond Avenue.

The homeowner shot and killed another suspect, 31-year old Isaac Collins, also of Ft. Pierce.

Because Collins was killed during the commission of a felony, the two other suspects involved face 2nd Degree Murder charges.

Police have identified a third suspect and are still looking for him at this time.

Evans is being held at the St. Lucie County Jail.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at (800) 273-TIPS.

FORT PIERCE — The alleged perpetrator of a reported home invasion was shot and seriously wounded Thursday night, according to a spokeswoman for the St. Lucie County Fire District.

The incident occurred about 8:50 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 1200 block of South Raymond Avenue in Fort Pierce.

“The victim of the shooting, who apparently was the instigator of the home invasion, is a male in his mid-30s,” said Catherine Chaney, spokeswoman for the fire district. “The homeowner who apparently shot him is a male in his mid-50s. And he (the homeowner) received some minor injuries ... some cuts and scratches.”

Both men were taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute.
