OKEECHOBEE, FL -- A series of aerial treatments will begin today as a way to gain control over non-native vegetation on Lake Okeechobee.
The treatments will limit the expanision of two types of weeds that have spread along the lakeward edge.
The exotic vegetation has been out of control since Tropical Storm Fay caused a rapid rise in water levels on the lake.
The South Florida Water Management District along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the FWC will conduct the treatments.
