He has created some of the world’s most intriguing sculptures and the best part; divers are getting an up close look.

Ross Power has devoted much of his life to bringing his imagination to life through underwater art and he's making a splash here in South Florida.

Ross Power has been a key figure on the campus of FIU but lately he's making a name for himself.

His works of art are making an impact on the surface and they're about to make a difference underwater.

Nestled on the campus of Florida International University with a backdrop of Biscayne Bay...one artist's imagination has come to life.

"The divers will be coming into the entrance swimming through."

Ross Power knew at an early age his career would be molded around the ocean.

For decades the life long diver has jumped into his passion of underwater art.

Some of his sculptures are weaving their way through this campus and will soon find a new home offshore.

"The ocean is number one our largest and most important ecosystem plus it’s an amazing metaphor to understand the depths of who we are and what life is."

The Vero Beach environmental artist created the Key Largo undersea art gallery in 1985.

This one was one of his pieces called no turning back which was submerged in the gallery and has since reemerged.

It will eventually make a temporary stop in the water off the Bahamas for divers.
"As you go through there it looks like a kaleidoscope."

Now he's embarking on one of his biggest projects to date...focus...seven sculptures just like this which will be placed across the world.

"My intention is to have one here another in the Bahamas another in Spain another in Greece, another Thailand, Hawaii."

The first will hit the ocean bottom next summer just off Miami Beach.

Each will reflect the effects of the ocean described as an ever changing light and life show from the shadows.

"As the sun changes and its cloudy or not your gonna get the streams coming through."

To the marine life. "This piece is just gonna be teaming with tropical fish."

It’s a collaboration of ideas from one man who set out to make a difference using a little imagination and the ocean about to create a ripple across the world.

"I believe art can speak more loudly than anything else to get the scientific facts out that are so critically important to this understanding."
