Capurnia Boston-Cannon remains a kid at heart.

Accepting toys and donations through Dec. 24th.

She surrounds herself with outstanding young people like Crystal--and devotes her life to making all children happy.

Capurnia has been helping for over 20 years.

She started her non profit, Child Outreach Organization, in 1998 while working full time for the the department of children and families.

(Capurnia)
"Many times I went into the homes to take kids out and I thought if I
just had some food--or clothes and make things better then these kids
would be at home and not in the state's care.

To this day Capurnia provides food to the needy at the holidays and
throughout the year.

She also gives away thousands of book bags and school supplies in the
fall.

And then of course there's Christmas.

(Capurnia)
"We want to make children smile on christmas and know that someone cares
about them."

Capurnia collects the toys then gives them away at big parties.

Volunteers like 11 year old Crystal Allen will help spread the cheer.

(Crystal)
"It's gonna be good to see their faces. Mommy yay--we have Christmas
toys and stuff."

Donations have been slow so far---and Capurnia needs your help.

She'll accept toys up until Christmas Eve...cash works well too.

Why Capurnia?

(Capurnia)
"You know my motto--i can make a dollar holler!"

Volunteer Cathleen Zippay has seen that first hand!

(Cathleen)
"To give this woman 10 dollars and see her turn it into 100 dollars..I've never seen anyone take a penny and squeeze and stretch it--its just amazing and nobody is turned away, the elderly, children families, single moms...I like that."
She has a heart of gold...and proves it all year long.

(Capurnia)
"It's truly a blessing to help those in need---and I hope the community will help me help make things better for those in need.

Capurnia Boston Cannon--this weeks Kelley's Hero.

And it's easy to see why.
