TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Nine Florida Democrats are asking Governor Charlie Crist and Secretary of State Kurt Browning to extend early voting in the state and take steps to reduce long waits at the polls.
The letter sent Thursday asked for early voting to be extended in every county through Election Day, November 4th. In addition, the letter outlines requests to train additional poll workers, provide more voting equipment and enhance technology.
Those who signed the letter were U.S. Senator Bill Nelson and congressmen Alcee L. Hastings, Kendrick B. Meek, Robert Wexler, Ron Klein and Allen Boyd, and congresswomen Corrine Brown, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Kathy Castor. U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney, who is embroiled in an adultery scandal, was the only Democrat in the Florida Congressional Delegation who did not sign the letter.
