JUNO BEACH, FL -- "When my little girl was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2003 the first year we were in the hospital I just saw this need that was heartwrenching." Six years ago Julie Healey started the Be A Star Foundation after her daughter Daisy became very ill. Healey helps area families who have  mounting bills from their child's cancer treatments. "Palm Beach, Okeechobee, Indian River, Martin County, Hendry so at the moment an awful lot of the funds and families we are helping are out in The Acreage. We pay mortgages, we pay gas cards, tires, electric bills, so that the families don't suffer financially in these really desperate times."

Healey is embarking on a different type of goal to raise more money to help children dealing with cancer. "So I had this crazy idea that I would run a marathon. I have never run before, I am not a runner in fact I am a horrible runner and I actually hate it. I am going through mid life crisis at 45 that people would think well thank goodness it's her and not me and donate."

Healey is not about to let her dislike for running stop her from daily workouts for the New York City Marathon November 1st. To date, she has raised 45 thousand dollars and plans to continue making a difference. "In fact I know it does by the letters we get and the thank you's. I've even had phone calls at home from families that have cried because they wouldn't have known where to turn."
