WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- There are many events scheduled today to honor and show support for those who have sacrificed for the freedom and security of our nation.

Most events are free.

BOCA RATON

The City of Boca Raton's Veterans Day ceremony, 'Tribute to Veterans,' begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Boca Raton Cemetary. The cemetary is located at 449 S.W. 4th Avenue. The ceremony at the cemetary will include speeches by city dignitaries and local veteran organizations, demonstration drills by the New Young Patriots and Boca Raton Community High School NJROTC, music by the Boca Raton High School Band and the Coastmen Chorus of Palm Beach.

A Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Veterans Park, 9400 W. Palmetto Park Road, between Lyons Road and U.S. 441, in Suburban Boca Raton. The West Boca program includes a procession of colors, guest speakers and patriotic music. Organizers suggest that you bring lawn chairs.

A Veterans Day commemoration is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Lynn University's Lynn Student Center, 3601 N. Military Trail, in Boca Raton. The commemoration ceremony includes a presentation by Rep. Ron Klein and Mayor Susan Whelchel, with a flag presention and music by the Lynn University Conservatory of Music. The reception begins at 5 p.m.

The "Salute To Our Veterans" luncheon takes place at noon at Boca Raton Country Club, 17741 Boca Club Blvd. The luncheon ceremony costs $40 and includes U.S. Marine Fife and Drum Corps, Marine Color Guard, a presentation of Palm Beach County Veteran of the Year Award. Rep. Ron Klein will speak.

A concert by the U.S. Air Force Band, "Airmen of Note" and Honor Guard, will be held at the Mizner Park Amphitheater on Federal Highway just south of Glades Road in Boca Raton at 7:00 p.m.

BOYNTON BEACH

A concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Boynton Beach Civic Center, 128 Ocean Ave. The concert will serve as a salute to veterans by the James E. Bulfan Gold Coast Band. There will be a $7 admission fee.

A Veterans Day program will be held at 10 a.m. at Bicentennial Park, 411 N. Federal Highway, in Boynton Beach. The French Legion of Honor will be presented to selected veterans who served in France in World War II. The program is presented by the Boynton Beach Veterans Council and the city.

WELLINGTON

The Wellington Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony begins with the parade at 8:45 a.m. The parade leaves from the Wellington Community Center, 12165 W. Forest Hill Blvd., and ends at the Veterans Memorial at West Forest Hill Boulevard and Southshore Boulevard. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

DELRAY BEACH

A Shabbat Service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Sinai, 2475 W. Atlantic Ave., in Delray Beach. The service will be a tribute to all veterans and current servicemen.


PALM BEACH GARDENS

A ceremony and concert with the U.S. Navy Band Southeast's Sound of Freedom will be held at Veterans Plaza, 10500 North Military Trail, in Palm Beach Gardens.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY

Vero Beach

Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m.: Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary, Riverside Park near the Riverside Theatre and Indian River Art Museum. Patriotic music, guest speaker Lt. Col. Anthony Young, Moment of Silence, wreath laying and parade of massed colors.

Nov. 11, 2 p.m.: Vero Beach Veterans Club honors Charlie Cox, 99, oldest veteran in Indian River County. Club House, 2500 15th Ave. Open to the public.

Sebastian

Nov. 11, 11 a.m.: Riverside Park, Sebastian. Sponsored by VFW Post 10210. Patriotic music, speeches, wreath laying, traditional Moment of Silence. Open House at the Post after the services.


ST. LUCIE COUNTY

Port St. Lucie

Nov. 11, 11 a.m.: Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, 2100 Veterans Memorial Parkway. Sponsored by Americal Legion Post 355. All Veterans groups participating. The Port St. Lucie Community Band will perform. Traditional Moment of Silence and speakers. Seating is limited so bring a portable chair.

Fort Pierce

Nov. 11, 10 a.m.: Veterans Day Services at Veterans Memorial Park, Indian River Drive. Sponsored by American Legion Post 40.

Nov. 16: Military Appreciation Monday celebration at Golden Corral Restaurant: 5 to 9 p.m. Veterans, retired and active duty members of the U.S. military receive a free ‘thank you’ dinner buffet and beverage. The Golden Corral is at 5091 Okeechobee Road in Fort Pierce.


MARTIN COUNTY

Stuart

Nov. 11: Martin County’s Veterans Day events will start off at 9 a.m. with a parade from Confusion Corner (Intersection of Flagler and Colorado avenues) east along East Ocean Boulevard to Georgia Avenue and the Veterans Memorial in Memorial Park. Flagler and East Ocean Boulevard will be closed. A ceremony begins at 11 a.m.

Nov. 14, 15: The annual Visiting Nurses Association Air Show provides a tribute to military members and veterans. On both days, the aerial performances run from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and there will be activities, stunts, exhibits and special guests to meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Palm City

Nov. 11, 6 p.m.: “Brothers at War” movie event, a fundraiser for SaluteUS — The Veterans Connection, will be at Monarch Country Club, Palm City. Tickets are $60 or two for $100. For reservations call (772) 919-2243.

BREVARD COUNTY

Barefoot Bay

Nov.11, 9:30 a.m.: A parade will begin at the tennis courts on Barefoot BayBoulevard and end at the community center. The event will continue witha variety of speakers.
