PORT ST. LUCIE, FL -- A big celebration, with music, food and dancing was held at the Sons of Italy Lodge today to support our troops far from home.

Dave Shaffer and his friends Garry Schwartz and Fred Masters, are all Vietnam veterans.

They came out to the Freedom Festival today to support the troops.

"We were forgotten, and it shouldn't be that way, it should never be that way for someone who is serving our country," said Dave Shaffer.

The goal today was to sell 400 tickets and raise money for Forgotten Soldiers Outreach.

It is an organization that puts together packages and sends them to soldiers to cheer them up.

More than 80 people and numerous bands donated their time to the cause.

About 300 people showed up to the event.

The Sons of Italy Lodge said it was a great turnout, and they hope to make the fundraiser an annual event.
