DELRAY BEACH, FL -- Prepped and ready, the Unity Middle School varsity volleyball team heads into the league championship undefeated.

But, as they hit the court, something was missing from the sidelines: their coach, Cari Walsh.

"I was feeling so guilty I guess that I wasn't gonna be there," she says.

It's not like she had a choice; Walsh was giving birth.

Just hours before her girls entered the gym, a little girl of her own entered the world.

But, like a mother's work, a coach's work is never done and from her hospital bed Walsh made sure she was still a part of the game.

She talked out a game plan with the other coach, Sharon Gerry and texted her words of inspiration to the team.

"I will be there in spirit. Tell the girls they have what it takes in their hearts," Walsh texted.

The play by play inspiration sent from her iPhone taught a lesson in dedication.

Walsh explains, "I think its really important for them to know I'm there 100 percent of the time, 110 percent of the time and I expect the same thing from them."

The texts proved to be just the boost the girls needed.

One player explains, "When we got the text message we knew she was giving us spirit and stuff and it helped us go out and win."

A win that added a new title for their team as a new Mustang teammate was added to their huddle.

One player says, "We're definitely going to be teaching her volleyball."
