BOCA RATON, FL-- Traffic is flowing again in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Boca Raton.
But that wasn't the case earlier in the day.
Boynton Beach Police say around 3:40 p.m. there was the report of a car burglary in the parking lot of Galaxy Elementary. An officer spotted the suspects' car, a gold Buick LaSabre, and attempted to stop it.
The driver refused and police used stop sticks to try and disable the vehicle.
The car blew out two tires but continued south on I-95 into Boca Raton.
According to police the car slammed into a Florida Highway Patrol cruiser on purpose, just south of Yamato Road.
The trooper was not injured.
Three people, two men and a woman, were in the car. One received minor injuries from broken glass.
Investigators later discovered the car burglary was really an armed robbery. The suspects are suspected of using a stun-gun and a pipe to rob 2-3 contractors of their tools, according to police.
Police have not yet identified the suspects but they face charges of armed robbery, fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
