BOYNTON BEACH-The Swine Flu continues to strike. The Palm Beach County Health Department says a 12th person has died from the virus.
Rey Dinvil says his girlfriend of 3 years, Claudia Hernandez, 22 died Tuesday at Wellington Regional Medical Center. She had been in a medically induced coma since November 18th after being diagnosed with swine flu.
"I was surprised and shocked 'cause last night when I left the hospital everything was fine," he said.
But this isn't the only loss Dinvil has felt. Claudia was 8 months pregnant with their son Jayden when she was admitted to the hospital. Doctors delivered the baby but he died four days later.
Dinvil and a close friend say Claudia went to the hospital after feeling ill but was given Tamiflu and sent home.
"She kept getting sicker and sicker and they said she was fine", says Amy, Claudia's friend. "Basically one day she would be fine but she wasn't eating," Dinvil said.
Claudia's Facebook page has already been flooded with friends leaving goodbye messages. Goodbye messages her boyfriend says could have been avoided had someone taken Claudia's doctor visits more seriously.
"Both of them would still be here."
A memorial fund has been set up at TD Bank. The account is named the Claudia Hernandez and Jayden Dinvil Memorial Fund.
