BOYNTON BEACH, FL--Boynton Beach Police have arrested a man for a violent purse snatching that left an elderly woman with two fractured fingers.
Police say 48-year-old Lester Gibb was the suspect wanted for a strong-arm robbery outside of Snapper's Seafood Grill at 398 North Congress Avenue last Wednesday.
Police say Gibb rode up to the victim on his bicycle and ripped her purse out of her hand.
The victim received a call from a woman, later identified as Gibb's girlfriend Tania Kaufman, who said she found the victim's purse on the side of the road.
When the victim met up with Kaufman, the purse was missing $250 in cash.
Police responded to Kaufman's residence where they made contact with Lester Gibb.
According to a release, Gibb's stated to officers, "I wasn't at Snapper's the other night." Police noted the residence is 200 yards from their restaurant.
Gibb's girlfriend told officers that he came home "panting and out of breath" around the same time of the crime.
Police say Gibb then confessed. He was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail. He will be charged with one count of strong-arm robbery.
