BOCA RATON,FL--'Tis the season to do some spending, and there was some expert advice on hand at Boca Raton's Town Center Mall Thursday.
Financial expert Suze Orman stopped by the mall to share her spending do's and don't's.
Shoppers had a chance to sit down with the television host and best-selling author to chat about everything from inheritances to 401Ks.
A common question for Orman: "How do I stay out of debt during the holidays?"
"If you have the money to buy it for them...If you can put it on a credit card and pay it off in full at the end of the month, okay. But if you can't, this is a holiday season that's better spent just being with the person, talking to the person, than getting into debt over something they're not even going to use."
Another useful tip, Orman says make a list and buy things people really need, rather than just what they want.
