Bicyclist killed in Boca Raton hit and run

BOCA RATON,FL--A bicyclist is dead after a hit and run accident in Boca Raton early Sunday morning, according to Sandra Boonenberg, Boca Raton Police Department.

Police arrived to the scene around 2:15 a.m. in the 8000 block of North Federal Highway.

The bicyclist, Loren Clobes of Pompano Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The vehicle was traveling south on Federal Highway when it struck the 60-year-old. 

Officials say an anonymous witness provided information about the suspect vehicle, a 2007 tan Cadillac Escalade.  Investigators located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Tonya Meccariello.  Meccariello said she did not know she had hit anything. 

Judy Nicholas of Orlando was riding with Meccariello when the accident occured. 

Investigators are looking for the anonymous witness to contact them.  They say the information from that witness was invaluable in tracking down the vehicle and more information is important to the case.
