PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL -- Deciding which pumpkin to take home is no easy task for one-year-old Lylah.
But with the help of her mother, she finally settles on one. Lylah is too young to realize her purchase of a pumpkin at Trinity United Methodist Church in Palm Beach Gardens will have an impact on many lives.
Andrew Springman, Director of Student Ministries at Trinity United Methodist Church said, "It's going towards our students for them to be able to do mission trips, be able to do retreats, be able to invite friends to come along and makes it affordable for the activities for the students to do."
The tradition of selling pumpkins to help in missionary work started 21 years ago. Now it's expanding to include more youngsters at the church.
"Normally each spring break our high school and now this year our middle school are going to be participating in local missions. They sometimes stay in our youth center overnight and go out and do work with organizations like Paint Your Heart Out, with Cross Ministries and opportunities in which they can use their skill level," said Springman
The church is thankful that so many people buy pumpkins from the pumpkin patch, and are in the process of helping to make a difference.
Springman adds, "For two and a half weeks we offer story time during the day time hours for the schools to come out mainly pre-schools and elementary schools. They come and spend half an hour getting told stories in our choir room and it's an opportunity for them to walk the patch and pick out their pumpkin."
