JUPITER, FL--A 27-year-old woman was bitten by a shark behind the Jupiter Reef Club near Carlin Park on A-1-A.
The call came in just before 5 p.m.
Lifeguards helped treat the victim until medics arrived. The victim was surfing when she was then bit on the foot.
She was transported to Jupiter Medical Center. Her injuries were reportedly not serious. The victim will require surgery, according to her mother.
Wednesday A Lake Mary teen surfing off New Smyrna Beach was also bitten by a shark.
Volusia County Beach Patrol reports that the 18-year-old man was one of about 300 surfers in the water when a 4-foot shark grabbed his right leg.
The teen suffered minor injuries, including a bump on the shin where the shark hit him and cuts on the back of the calf and the front of the shin.
Officials say the teen was treated on the beach by lifeguards and paramedics, but friends drove him to the hospital.
