JUPITER, FL -- A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will arrive December 12, 2009 to examine all aspects of the Jupiter Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services.
Verification by this team that the Jupiter Police Department meets the state of the art professional standards established by the Commission is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation – a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.
The session will be conducted in the Council Chambers at the Town of Jupiter’s Council Chambers located at 210 Military Trail.
If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session, but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, they may do so by telephone.
The public may call 741-2242 on Sunday, December 13, 2009 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to speak with a member of the CALEA assessment team.
Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session, are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards.
A copy of the professional standards is available at the Jupiter Police Department.
Local contacts are Lieutenant James Barrett or Officer Paul Harrington.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Jupiter Police Department’s ability to comply with the professional standards for accreditation may send them to:
