JENSEN BEACH — Martin County Animal Control officials are investigating an attack by two pit bulls on a 54-year-old Jensen Beach man and his Labrador retriever.
The attack happened about 6 a.m. Thursday, according to a Martin County Sheriff’s Office report.
Kurt Chandler, of the 2300 block of Northeast Clarissa Street, was walking his dog near the Saints Episcopal Church in the 2300 block of Northeast Seaview Drive when they were attacked, the incident report states.
In fighting off the pit bulls, Chandler suffered bites on both hands, his left leg and right forearm, the report said. He was treated for his injuries at Martin Memorial Medical Center. The Labrador retriever was also injured and taken to an animal hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said.
A deputy located the pit bulls’ home in the 2200 block of Northeast Rustic Way. The front door wasn’t secure at the home and the dogs’ owner was not home, the Sheriff’s Office said. Animal Control officials took custody of the pit bulls.
