HOBE SOUND, FL - Bob Zagorski served in Vietnam, where he ran into king cobras.

He's seen rattlesnakes, coral snakes and rat snakes around his yard.

But he never expected to find a ball python on the running board of his SUV.

The snake hitched a ride on Zagorski's car Thursday.

He and his neighbors shooed it into a garbage can and waited for Animal Control to arrive.

The 3-foot long snake is now resting comfortably at the Treasure Coast Wildlife Center.

Workers there say it appears healthy and likely hasn't been in the wild long.

It either escaped or was released by its previous owner.

We've got to stop this epidemic NOW! We have entirely too many non-native and invasive species in our state. I kill 2 4 foot long iguanas on my property every week. You would think with the little girl getting strangled by the python yesterday that more people would be in uproar about this!
