FELLSMERE, FL -- Governor Charlie Crist was in Fellsmere Tuesday afternoon, touring PetroAlgae, an alternative fuel facility.

"We're developing solution for biofuels and high protein animal food. What we're doing is growing the green fuel for the future," said Vice President Fred Tennant.

"To be utilizing algae, something that's been around forever for food and fuel is a wonderful thing," the governor added.

But what haven't been so wonderful lately are the headlines surrounding Governor Crist.  Conservatives went after him for the way he literally embraced Barack Obama earlier this year.  A Miami Herald poll recently showed his lowest approval ratings ever.  But that doesn't seem to concern him.

"I couldn't be more pleased to be governor of this state and when you go around Florida with the first lady and I with education up and crime down and the economy finally taking hold, it really couldn't make you more pleased."

Then there was the article in Forbes labeling him as the worst governor in part because of the way he used stimulus funds to pay for part of the state budget. The author claimed that could lead to huge tax hikes and big spending cuts in the future.  The governor indicated he's not interested in a war of words.

"Everybody has a right to say what they want. Everybody has the right to be wrong."

The news is still pretty good for the governor.  He leads challenger Marco Rubio by double digits in the Republican primary race for US Senate.
