WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- A Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy has filed a civil lawsuit against Circle K stores, after he was severely burned at one of their gas stations last month.

Sergeant Richard Ragali suffered burns on 50-60% of his body when his motorcycle slipped on spilled gasoline and caught fire at a gas station in Marathon.

Ragali was off-duty and riding to Key West with several other deputies.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Ragali's bike fell, igniting a fuel puddle left on the ground from a previous customer. The fire quickly spread to a minivan nearby, but the two toddlers inside were saved before it reached their car seats.

Sergeant Ragali is claiming the pump was not working properly.
