Billionaire Jeffry Picower drowns at his Palm Beach home

PALM BEACH, FL -- Palm Beach Police say 67-year-old Jeffry M. Picower has been prounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital after they say he was found unconscious in his pool Sunday afternoon.

Fire-rescue officials said the wife and maid called 911 dispatchers. The wife stated that her husband was at the bottom of the pool.

The location of is an estate located at 1410 S. Ocean Blvd in Palm Beach.

Palm Beach Police say that it is standard operating procedure in any drowning, that an investigation be conducted into Mr. Picower’s death.

Jeffry M. Picower was a client of Bernie Madoff.

Picower is alleged to have taken in $5.1 billion as a result of fraudulent returns from Madoff accounts.

Picower is a noted philanthropist and successful investor. His foundation was closed he once quoted after falling victim to Bernie Madoff's ponzi scheme.

Police noted residence has been secured and detectives remain on the scene at this time.
