LOXAHATCHEE, FL -- The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is searching for the hit and run driver who left a man critically injured Wednesday night around 7pm.
Investigators say 49-year-old Mario M. Tenorio-Turino was crossing Southern Boulevard, across the street from Boonie's Lounge in Loxahatchee when he was struck.
PBSO claims the right front of a car, possibly a Toyota Camry, struck the man.
Terri Renee Delia, the manager of Boonie's, was inside working when someone ran in and asked her to call 911.
She ran across the street and says the found the man bleeding from the head with broken legs.
She says, "I knelt down to see if he was breathing. He was breathing. A couple minutes later he started with the moaning. I tried to get any attention from him, ask him 'Are you ok? Are you up?"
He was taken by trauma hawk to Delray Medical Center in critical condition.
Investigators still don't know what kind of car hit the man and say the driver may not have known what he or she did before driving off eastbound on Southern Blvd.
Sgt. John Churchill, a vehicular homicide investigator with PBSO explains, "They may have just thought they ran over a piece of road debris or something of that nature; we just don't know at this point."
Investigators believe the Camry may be 2000 or 2001 model, cashmere beige metallic in color. The car will likely have front-end and right side damage.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
